This morning, Republican Governor Mike Pence announced his plans to expand the “Healthy Indiana” plan. Similar to other states like Arkansas and most recently Iowa, it’s little more than ObamaCare’s Medicaid expansion but with a more Orwellian title.
We’ve covered extensively the broken promises of Arkansas’ Private Option and tried to warn GOP leaders against creating more entitlements for able-bodied, childless adults. But Governor Pence unfortunately chooses to ignore said warnings and is making plans to expand Medicaid in the Hoosier state nonetheless.
Our policy experts, Jonathan Ingram and Christie Herrera released a memo just moments ago highlighting several areas of concern. Will legislators learn from their peers in neighboring states or will they choose to put taxpayers on the hook for potentially hundreds of millions in cost overruns too?
